I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We kept things pretty low-key due to the family feeling a little under the weather (gotta love allergies!), but we were able to go to a small family barbecue on Saturday, and I enjoyed getting to see people I don’t get to see that often. I cherish these moments so much, as it seems as time passes, it becomes harder and harder to get everyone together.

During our time together, one of the topics that was brought up was faith, and one thing that’s always fascinated me is the different names for God in the Bible, which is exactly what the book I am featuring today delves deeper into. My Review

For as long as I can remember, I have been a fearful person and struggle with almost debilitating anxiety daily, and I know that I am not alone in this. We live in a world that is steeped in chaos and darkness, and the light continues to dim with each passing day, but for those of us that believe there is hope.

Knowing the names of God has always been a source of comfort for me. There have been so many times that I’ve cried out to Immanuel to remind myself that I am not alone and that God is always with me, or Abba when my soul longs for my Heavenly Father. To know God’s names is to know who He is and is so important for our personal walk and relationship with Him.

This is not the type of devotional that you quickly read through but is clearly meant to be read during times of deeper study and reflection. It’s clear that there was a lot of time and attention taken to write this book, not only with the multiple Biblical and scholarly quotes but the heart of the author that is clearly present on every page. How the author put her own personal touch to this tome was exactly what I needed personally as it gives a refreshingly unique perspective and tethered me to a sister in Christ that I’ve never even met, helping me feel less alone.

I cannot tell you just how much this devotional study has spoken to my heart, and I truly believe it is not an accident that it’s coming during a time when people are searching for peace. I don’t know about you, but I need peace now more than ever, and knowing the depth of the names of God is to know true peace.

About the Author

Grace Fox is the award-winning author of 15 books including Names of God: Knowing Peace. She’s a popular Bible teacher at international women’s events, a member of the “First 5” Bible study writing team (Proverbs 31 Ministries), and an annual contributor to the Mornings with Jesus 365-day devotional published by Guideposts.

Grace has been a career missionary for more than 30 years. She and her husband co-direct International Messengers Canada, a missionary sending agency with 300 staff in more than 25 countries.
