Life has been very much on the heavy side lately, and sometimes a girl just needs a sweet escape, and nothing hits the spot like a Love Inspired read. One choice that a pregnant and alone Rebecca makes ends up being a major plot twist not only in her life but one that ends up affecting many in the small town of Eden, Texas.
While not under the most ideal circumstances, I loved seeing Rebecca in Eden with the Greystones, particularly Walker Greystone and his aunt, Bell. They all fit together like perfect, little puzzle pieces, and the whole time I’m reading, I can’t help but wonder why Rebecca’s ex, Vince, never brought Rebecca home to meet his family. It’s clear the Greystones take care of their own and all have hearts of gold, so this question hovered in my mind the entire time I was reading and it was one that was never fully answered.
One of my favorite parts of this novel was the library planning and the grand opening. The ideas that Rebecca had for the library were some I wish my local library could implement. Even though this is a fictional place, I found myself getting excited about the prospect of her vision, and it’s not even real! Great writing by Alena here, though I wish there could’ve been more time to show the full vision and not so focused on the love story.
This is one of those novels you pick up when you’re wanting a sweet escape to a picturesque small town with well-meaning characters and situations that aren’t too deep. There is a lot of heart and charm in this novel thanks to the people as well as the library and small-town setting, and it was a quick and fun read, and I was here for it.
