Book Review of 'Battered & Torn' by Allison Pearl

Hello Bookworms!

Today is a very special day for me, and not in the way that many celebrate today.  Ten years ago my husband and I said "I do" and today we are celebrating this huge milestone.  My mind still cannot comprehend the fact that it's been ten years!  In some ways it feels like no time at all has passed, and in other ways it feels like a lifetime ago.  Such is life!

I will say it was the best decision I've ever made, and I am more in love with my husband now than I was then.  He has been my rock through the darkest time of my life, as I have battled an ongoing illness.  I tell him all the time that when he said "In sickness and in health" that neither of us knew just how much I would be stuck on the former.  Still, he has stood strong through it all and supported and loved me every moment, and I cannot thank him and love him enough for it.  Happy 10th Anniversary LouLou ♥️

Today I am sharing a review from a series that I was excited to delve back into, and I hope you will enjoy it too.

When Archie turned in his scalpel to run the family business, life became too busy to go home and deal with his grief. But when he discovers a suspicious hire at his ancestral estate, he’s forced to confront the situation as well as his anger at God for taking not only his family, but his dreams. Despite his objections, his grandmother is determined to keep Nora on staff, but that isn’t going to stop him investigating her on his own—no matter how attractive he finds her. But the more he digs, the more questions he has.

Drawn to Nora again and again, Archie wonders if she’ll help lead him back to the truth or get him killed. Is trusting a beautiful stranger worth the risk to his family, his life, and his heart? And when Nora’s past catches up with them, will anyone be left alive?

Excerpt from 'Dawn’s Untrodden Green' by Carolyn Miller

Happy Monday Bookworms!

I hope that everyone had a happy and blessed Easter weekend!  Mine was more on the low key side since I have teenage boys who don't do egg hunts anymore, but there was lots of rejoicing and the perfect peace that surpasses all understanding that stayed me with me the entire weekend.  No matter how many times I hear the story of what Jesus did for me it will never get old and it helps to remind me of just how truly blessed I am, even if I am going through a rough time.

Today I am taking a reviewing break and instead showcasing a beautiful story that is perfect for all of you historical fiction lovers out there.  So sit back and enjoy a nice excerpt from Dawn's Untrodden Green and keep scrolling for a wonderful giveaway from JustRead Tours!

"Highly entertaining, refreshing, and witty. . . . [A] beautifully written, delightful, and faith-filled romance of two endearing hearts."

--Grace Hitchcock, award-winning author of My Dear Miss Dupré

Not much happens in Theodosia Stapleton's tiny Northumberland village. Certainly not to her. She has resigned herself to spinsterhood, caring for her ailing mother in the home of her grandfather, known to the locals as "General Contrary." When her dear friend dies and leaves behind a daughter, it's simple enough to take the child into her own quiet world. That is, until her ward's famous uncle unexpectedly arrives and throws Theo's tidy orbit completely off-kilter.

Fame was the last thing Daniel Balfour sought when he fought in the Peninsular War. But his brave exploits caught the attention of the King, and now the honors he was given hound him everywhere... even on his rushed trip to rescue his orphaned niece. Theo's quick wit and warm smile reassure him that Rebecca is in good hands, and he finds himself free to swiftly return to London and his responsibilities. But those caring hands are beginning to look like they could also safely hold his heart, and he's tempted to linger. Unfortunately, marriage is simply not in the cards; the army is spouse enough for him.

Then an accident and a scandal lead both Theo and Daniel to discover that their best-laid plans may not have been what God designed for them after all.

Book Review of 'The Wrong Seat' by Natasha D. Frazier

Happy Thursday Bookworms!

How can the first week of April already be almost over!  I don't know about you guys but this year is speeding by so fast and I can't seem to wrap my head around it!  This weekend not only will I be celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, I will also be gathering all my lovely documents and getting ready to file my taxes.  It's something I procrastinate on every year, and 2023 is no exception.  The deadline is fast approaching and I've barely made a dent, so instead of relaxing this weekend I will be buried under tons of financial receipts when I am not celebrating.

Speaking of celebrating, I was ecstatic when I saw The Wrong Seat on my TBR list last week.  I have been enjoying the Langston Sisters series, and couldn't wait to see where the story takes us next.  Let me tell you, I was not disappointed!  Read on to hear all my thoughts on the second book in the series and keep scrolling to see how you can win some book swag from JustRead Tours!

Ava’s father hires The Four Kings private security firm to protect Ava from the ongoing threats. When Zack Kingsland takes the job, he does so reluctantly. He’s been out of the field for five years since his last job cost him his ex-wife. Now that he’s back in the thick of things, he finds that he not only needs to protect Ava, but also his heart.

Book Review of 'Yosemite Firestorm' by Tanya Stowe

Happy Monday Bookworms!

I hope everyone had a terrific weekend and a great start to April.  On Saturday my husband and I celebrated twelve years together.  Our wedding anniversary is April 20th, but we always try to do something special on April 1st, and we always tell one another that we're still, and will forever be, "April Fools!" ♥️

This year we celebrated with family by walking around a local swap meet.  I found an incredible book from 1949 that I can't stop sniffing (if you know, you know) as well as a big bag of some of the best kettle corn popcorn I've ever had.  It was an amazing day, and I could not have a more thankful heart.

Today I am featuring a novel that was so much fun to read, and if you're a fan of the Love Inspired Suspense series then I know you're going to love it too.
