Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance
Emma Uranova enjoys her office job until her boss disappears with the investors' money. To avoid the media storm and false accusations, Emma flees to Whispering Creek, Tennessee to live on her best friend' s secluded property. When a temporary position opens up in Nashville, Emma leaves small-town anonymity to pad her depleted bank account. With a handsome new boss and a steady income, Emma believes life is looking up... until she discovers she has transported the scandal in her backpack. Where is God when her life is falling apart?
Wade Donoven is recuperating from a crash that sidelined him from the family electrical business. Worse yet, his prodigal younger brother is getting the glory for Wade' s accomplishments. Desperation, and physical setbacks, have him agreeing to let Emma help him manage the business office. But when trouble follows her to his doorstep, Wade must make some difficult choices. Sending Emma back to Whispering Creek may unknowingly place the woman he's come to love in danger.
Escape to Whispering Creek is aptly named in that it is a great literary escape. I was instantly immersed in the narrative and quickly read it in one go.
I really liked the air of mystery that surrounds Emma as she tries to deal with being swindled. It’s clear who’s behind the nefarious acts and though the story is predicable there is still something quite endearing about it.
Emma is a happy and chipper character which is a complete contrast to Wade’s sour demeanor. She helps Wade loosen his grip on bitterness while he gives her strength to handle life throwing her one difficult situation after another. Emma’s prayer life is robust as we see her embody ‘praying without ceasing’ and having an almost continuous conversation with the Lord, something I always love to see.
I always feel so sorry for people who have had to deal with fraud of any kind but there’s something about investment fraud that angers me to my core. To fraud someone by taking advantage of their trust is truly disgusting, so those moments made my blood boil. Needless to say, there is a plethora of emotions going on in this book.
Pick up this novel if you’re looking for a clean romance with a dash of suspense, endearing characters, and a quick, entertaining ride. This was a wonderful story, and I really enjoyed being back in Whispering Creek again!

Hi Christi! Thank you for the wonderful review and for being part of my tour. I love tacos, but they are limited in our household as my hubby can't eat them without downing a few Tums. Growing up, we had tacos twice a week.
ReplyDeleteIt was truly my pleasure! When I was growing up, we would have tacos almost every week but for whatever reason it always seemed to be on Sunday afternoons. Thank you so much for sharing!

DeleteI'm not a taco fan but when we got our new license plate after moving to GA, the first 4 letters are TAC0 ... so we call it the taco truck haha
