MY REVIEW

I love an inspiring second chance romance!

Molly Jansen is headed home after many years away to say goodbye to her grandfather, and to help her Gran sell the family farmhouse.  What she doesn’t expect is to come face-to-face with the boy that broke her heart.  A lot has changed over the years in each of their lives.  Molly is a determined architect who has just gotten out of a very toxic relationship, and Jack Behrens recently lost his wife, and is a single father to a sweet little boy with cystic fibrosis.  Both are putting on brave faces but both are struggling with far more than just the death of the family patriarch.

I felt the heaviness of this novel from the beginning.  Maybe it’s because I lost my grandfather a few months ago, and those wounds are still very fresh, but though the subject matter is on the heavy side, there is so much inspiration on these pages.  I am the mom of a child with a chronic illness, so I could definitely relate with that aspect, and appreciated this addition to the story so much.  Jack and Molly are that kind of couple that you can’t help but root for and deserve their happy ending.

There was no epilogue, which made me sad, so I am hoping that these two show up in later stories, even though I am unsure if this novel is a part of a series or not.  I hope it is, as Polk Center is utterly charming, and I loved that it is set in Iowa.  I’ve never been there personally, but I also haven’t read many stories that are based in Iowa, so I really enjoyed this picturesque place.

Even without the epilogue, it was still a happy and perfect ending for a wonderful couple and a charming story. It’s touching, heartwarming, and I felt all the feels! I now want to live in a farmhouse in Iowa, I am not even kidding! Truly a joy to read!

My Rating: ★★★★★
