At least until she discovers that not only was she orphaned by a criminal legend, but the silent mastermind running the vast network has tracked her down. What could he want from her? And one of his associates may be closer than she thinks. Could he even be the man she’s supposed to marry?
Sheriff’s deputy, Josh Bennet, can’t wait to say ‘I do’ but the stranger stalking his bride-to-be has other plans. Josh has always depended on his strength and intelligence, but he’s failed to see the skeletons buried in his hometown or to keep the women he loves from slipping through his fingers. After all, Josh lost his first wife to illness. Will he lose his fiancée to murder now that she’s pushed him away? What will he have to give up to make her believe he’s the good guy? He wants to be writing his vows not planning an escape, but if they can’t find out the truth, it won’t just be their wedding plans getting cut short. It will be their lives.
Dunked in Trouble picks up right where Glazed Suspicion leaves off, which I loved, as there were a few loose ends that I wanted to find out the answers to, which I did, and I didn’t have to wait too long either! Josh and Nikki have taken a huge step in their future together, but it could all be shattered before their life begins if they can’t figure out who continues to harass Nikki.
There are more characters that have a shadow of suspicion over them throughout, especially as you read more of the backstory, but it’s pretty clear who the perpetrator is early on, though this fact does not take away from the suspense at all. Though there is a little repetition, I didn’t feel like this novel was as rote as the first book in the series, which I appreciated, and it still gives enough information that you can read it as a standalone, though I still recommend reading the series in order (even though I didn’t!).
Now that I am all caught up in this series I can impatiently await the fourth book in the series, which I am hoping will be coming soon. I adore this series, especially the community that continues to support both Josh and Nikki, as well as each other. I am a sucker for a good small town feel, and when you pair that with suspense, and a little will they/won’t they, and you’ve got a winner in my book!
