“I’ll give you five days, Tess.” To prove he wasn’t that easy to win over. Carter held up his left hand and spread his fingers wide. “If we can’t arrange their wedding before this Sunday, then we call Abby and Wes and confess.”

“Fine.” Tess stretched her arm toward him. “But if we succeed then you have to dance with me at the reception.”

Carter set his hand in Tess’s. One small tug and he’d have her in his arms. Right now. The woman was complicated, fascinating and a combination he really should avoid. She deserved more than a cynical cowboy like him. “And?”

Tess tightened her fingers around his. “And admit not all weddings are bad.”

Weddings were bad. As for her hand in his, bad wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. “Deal.”
