My Review 🖤

I am a huge fan of Leah Busboom but I was afraid to pick up her latest Potter’s House novel, A Reason for Hope.  The synapsis felt a lot like my own personal story, a single mom, running from a tough relationship, and I wasn’t wrong.

I do not believe in putting spoilers in my reviews, but there’s a part where Riley is triggered and remembers the moment the final straw broke, and she left her husband.  It was an abusive situation that was eerily similar to the day before I left my own abusive situation, and it definitely triggered me, bringing  back memories I don’t care to relive, but couldn’t help but think about.  So, let that be your trigger warning if you’re sensitive to those types of situations like I am.

Other than that one instance, there are no other details, but the book as a whole brought up my own story.  I identified with Riley so much, even having my knight in shining armor like Logan.  Logan is seriously the sweetest guy, and definitely the dream!  He is attentive, honest, hard-working, and has faith. I fell in love with him!!  I also adored his instant bond with sweet baby Poppy, and his nickname for her.  So stinkin’ cute!!!

Riley, though I identified with her in a myriad of ways, I struggled to connect with her.  Her choices frustrated me, maybe because she ran when I chose to stay and fight.  I hated that she didn’t see the amazing support group that she had in Logan, and her work family, especially Margaret.  Margaret was another character I adored, loving her sweet meddlesome ways.

Though there were those moments that I struggled with, I enjoyed this novel.  Obviously, it felt true to life in a lot of ways, even though I ended the book feeling like Logan is a little too good to be true.  A Reason for Hope does give you hope, and is full of second chances, facing fears, and having faith that it will all work out in the end.  A good read indeed!
