MY REVIEW
Talk about a book to snuggle up with! A Picture of Christmas is one of those stories that is easily devourable, appealing with its wonderful and whitty characters, and picturesque scenery. I especially loved the “You’ve Got Mail” vibe that was felt throughout as I read through the email correspondence between Rhett and Olive. It doesn’t help that I just watch this movie for the first time in a very long time a few weeks ago, and I forgot how much I love it!
Rhett was a character that rubbed me the wrong way from the first sentence that was spoken through his pretentious mouth and though I loved his character development throughout the story, I couldn’t stand his nature at the beginning. Put him next to the sweetest girl in the world, and he sticks out like one egocentric individual, which is exactly what happens in A Picture of Christmas.
In Olive, I found a kindred spirit. Artistic in a myriad of ways, and trying to start a business on her own, I could relate to the fears and struggles that she dealt with. I also admired how Olive could see past Rhett’s insufferable demeanor to the man that had been buried under years of corporate focus. I too try to see the best in everyone, even though it was hard for me to see the best in Rhett at the beginning myself, though I have to say I enjoyed the email banter between Olive and Rhett, the email correspondence being some of my favorite parts.
Clean Christmas romances are a part of my annual holiday festivities, and A Picture of Christmas was a perfect addition. Lighthearted with just a hint of drama, and the perfect happily ever after, I enjoyed this holiday read immensely.
