My Review 🖤

The Heart Casts No Shadow is in a genre that I do not typically read, but I thought I'd branch out a little bit, and try some dystopian/fantasy.  Though I still can't say that I am a big fan of this genre, I did surprisingly enjoy this book.

The mystery and suspense was spot on, and I was actually surprised by certain plot twists, which was quite enjoyable.  I do feel like it did start to get a little repetitive, which really drew out the story, when I felt like it could've been shortened a bit and still had the same effect.

I did finish this book feeling strange, mostly due to the paranormal aspect, which like I said before is something I'm really not into, but luckily the author didn't go into too much detail as far as that goes, and that helped a lot.  What I really enjoyed was the characters, especially Kymra, who I could totally identify with.  The writing is also wonderful, transporting the reader into an incredible new world that I was surprised to enjoy as much as I did.

I'm so glad I took a chance on The Heart Casts No Shadow and, even though this genre is still not a favorite of mine, Susan Holt did an amazing job of opening up a new world to me, full of complex characters, and page-turning suspense.

My Rating: ★★★
