I found out I lost a close friend suddenly due to an undiagnosed illness, and I am still trying to process it all. I was only a week older than her, so not only am I mourning someone truly special I also am faced with my own mortality. It was a lot, but time with family, friends, and prayer is getting me through. My prayer goes out to her family as well as everyone who has recently lost someone close to them.

Is anyone else in a psychotic and icy winter wonderland or is it just me? I am in one of the areas that was hit hard with ice and snow and have been hunkered down the past few days and thanking God that the power is holding on, though there have been a few flickerings here and there that make my heart stop. My prayers are with those that are dealing with catastrophic events and what's even crazier is it looks like another wave looms. Ugh... I've been wanting winter weather so bad but maybe I should've been more careful about what I wished for.

Did this weekend go by way too fast for you, or was it just me? Now that my sister's wedding is behind me, I am gearing up for the holidays, and this one is going to be a special one as it's the last one with my oldest son being home. He's decided it's time to leave the nest in the next few months, so I am keeping myself busy while I live in a semi-state of denial, which is the perfect time to pick up a book!

Book Review of 'Journaled with Love' by Erma M. Ullrey

I have been journaling pretty much my entire life. Sadly, I do not have my journals from my earlier years due to a tragedy that made me lose a lot of my personal items, but I do have all of my journals from the past few decades, which has become some of my most cherished possessions. One thing that's always been a fear is the thought of those private thoughts landing in the wrong hands, which is truly terrifying to me and is a big plot point in the novel I am featuring today.

Book Review of 'The Healing Jar' by Wanda E. Brunstetter

The May storms have been absolutely plum wild where I’m at, and the storm anxiety is real, but one thing I do to combat my anxious thoughts is to fervently pray, keep my nose in a book, and my eye on the weather.

The book I am featuring today is a novel that really helped me through a particularly rough time and is the first book I’ve been able to read in a series that I’ve been really wanting to dive into for some time. I’m grateful I finally had the opportunity, and I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this wonderful Amish fiction. Well, we've officially made it to the holiday season.  Thanksgiving kicks off the season in my house and this year when you're reading this, I will be headed out of town to spend the week with my in-laws and enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation.  It's been a very trying week for me, so I am looking forward to this trip so much.

I am so excited to finally announce that the summer heat is about to exit stage left, and Texas is going to finally get some fall weather!!  I have been looking forward to the cooler weather for months and now we are finally getting a taste.  I can't wait to pull my hoodies out again and snuggle in with a good book.
