I have been a fan of Dr. David Jeremiah's teachings for decades so when I saw that he was tackling fiction my curiosity was piqued especially when I heard it was comparable to the Left Behind series, which is one of my all-time favorite series to date.

My Review

“There’s a difference between knowing and believing. A big difference.”

This year has been a year of thought-provoking reads for me, and Vanished is no exception. The gravity of the situation is felt from the beginning as the world faces one horrible situation after another and we see it all unfold through the eyes of Dr. John Haggerty. These are terrors that are very real and hit so close to home, particularly in our current climate, which is one of the reasons why I was hesitant to start this novel, as dystopian is a genre that is harder for me to read, but I am so glad that I took a chance on it as it touched my soul.

Like the Left Behind series, this really makes you think about the end times, and I couldn’t help but compare what happens in the book to what is happening in our world right now. You know you’re reading something special when you stop and examine your own heart and beliefs.

This novel took quite a few twists and turns I wasn’t expecting, which kept me engaged and mentally on my toes. And while there is faith interwoven throughout it, it never felt forced but natural to the character arcs, particularly when it comes to Caleb. I appreciate Haggerty’s point-of-view as we see how he wrestles with his past and present. It is a wonderful visual of what happens when the truth comes to light.

This captivating and well-written novel is gripping and truly thought-provoking. It packs a powerful punch, and is a novel I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see where The Vanished Series takes us next, as this novel sets the stage for one epic and unforgettable adventure that I know will touch many.
