I can't believe we are not only near the ending of May but also the end of the Harbored in Crow's Nest series, which so happens to be one of my favorite series to date! Today I am featuring book five and in a few short months the final book will be published. It is bittersweet because I have truly fallen in love with Crow's Nest and all of its inhabitants, so it will be hard to say goodbye. Does anyone else get emotionally attached to characters or is it just me?

My Review

Harbored in Crow’s Nest has been one of my favorite series and I can’t believe after this book we only have one left! Sheltered by the Doctor focuses on Mindy, everyone’s favorite waitress, and Nick, the new town physician. I loved the chemistry between Nick and Mindy. These two characters deserve one another in every sense of the word. They both have a servant’s heart and truly want to make a difference in other’s lives, which is admirable. They also have crazy good chemistry, which also doesn’t hurt, and it’s clear to everyone that these two belong together.

It truly gutted me to see how abused Mindy was in every possible way by multiple people in this novel. Mindy has always been a favorite of mine in this series so to see her constant mistreatment was almost too much for me. Luckily, she has a lot of people who are on her side that are there to protect her, which also calmed my temper when I felt my blood pressure rising from frustration while I was reading.

I have truly enjoyed this series so much, so to know that there is only one novel left after reading this one is bittersweet. I will say, I felt like this novel had a more sinister feel to it than the other books in the series, most likely due to the prejudices and judgements that both Nick and Mindy face. I cannot stand when people are judged like this and so this feeling of a darker undertone could’ve spurned from my own personal emotions, but there is some heavier subject matter tackled so I’m sure I won’t be alone in my thoughts.

I am a sucker for a fake relationship troupe, especially when it includes two amazing characters that truly deserve one another, and the fact that it happened in Crow’s Nest made it all the sweeter. The anticipation and suspenseful writing kept me reading late into the night and I was living for it! Though this can be read as a standalone I feel like you’ll get more out of it if you’ve read the other books in the series as the world building is outstanding. I always love coming back to Crow’s Nest! I have truly come to feel like this world is apart of my literary family.
