He’s fighting for his inheritance—she’s marrying her sworn enemy.
When Ian McGowan attempts to claim Whitfield Castle as his rightful inheritance, he finds himself barred by a tempestuous lass who is entailed to be the bride of the castle’s new owner.
Claire Beaumont, the orphaned ward of Whitfield, has good reason to hate Scots, and she is not about to let a Scot enter her beloved home. But when the handsome knight steals into the castle and proves his claim on the land, she must face her ultimate nightmare—marriage to her sworn enemy—in order to save those she cares about most.
Restoring the failing Whitfield Castle while wooing his defiant intended proves more challenging than Ian anticipated. His struggles reach a crisis when his nemesis arrives at the castle, and he must overcome his past demons to prove his worth. He must fight for what is his to keep—and it could well cost him his heart.

My Review 🖤
One of my goals for 2021 was to branch out more into other reading genres that I wouldn't normally gravitate towards to try to broaden my reading horizons. While I have always been a fan of historical fictions, I normally do not go as far back in history as the medieval era, but I thought it was time to give this genre a go, and I'm so glad I did!
His To Keep is a historical medieval fiction, that I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed! Set in the early 1200's, Claire is fighting for her home, even if that means having to agree to marry her enemy, Ian, a Scot that loves to give her a hard time. This is one of my favorite troupes, and throughly enjoyed the banter between these two passionate characters.
The story is pretty fast-paced, with wonderful characters, and held my attention captive the entire time I was reading, the dialogue spot on! What really fascinated me is the politics during that time, and the volatile relationship between Scotland and England, that perfectly mirrors Claire and Ian's own conflict. I loved the road to faith and forgiveness for the characters, feeling all the feels.
His to Keep has it all: action, intrigue, hate, love, and everything in between and is a novel I feel so thankful that I gave a chance. Highly recommend!
