My Review

I have always been fascinated by cults and have done extensive research, and what happens to people that find themselves ensnared breaks my heart. Most people that join are wanting to make a change and looking for a place to belong, and before they know it, they’re sucked into a world darker than they could’ve possibly imagined. Echoes of Darkness personifies this perfectly, and it’s terrifying because what happens within these pages could actually happen in real life. It’s truly the stuff of nightmares.

For a Christian fiction novel, this one is intense. You barely have enough time to wrap your head around one thing before something even more shocking occurs. This hit so close to home as I have a family of teen and young adult gamers and can see how using something so innocent could be effective in reaching people. I would suggest you are in the right frame of mind before getting into this novel as it is on the heavier side with disturbing subject matter including an intense police investigation and cult activity. Despite handling everything sensitively, it can still be a lot. I appreciate the faith aspect of this novel as it gives balance to the bleak and dark subject matter and shows that there is still light even in the darkest of circumstances.

Make sure you have time to devote to reading this novel because you are not going to want to put this one down. The investigation is intense, the pace nonstop, and there are so many scenes that will stick with me, but the ending has my heart and was perfectly done. I highly recommend this novel if you’re in the mood for a darker suspense with faith elements and a happy ending. You will not be disappointed.
