One of the places you would not want to be at the start of WWII was Poland, yet that’s where Bret Conway and Adia Kensington find themselves. Though they come from two very different worlds, a chance meeting has them thrust together battling the war in sync as the Russians and Germans take control of Poland and more specifically the Janów Polanski stables.
I don’t think I’ve ever considered what the poor animals in war-torn areas went through. This thought hit me hard when I started reading Until Our Time Comes and the Polish Arabian horse's reactions to the first sounds of war, and it broke my heart.
As far as Adia and Bret, it was easy to be charmed by them, their passions are evident in their endeavors and convictions throughout the story.
Although I loved the story as a whole, I did feel like there were elements that were lacking. I would’ve liked to have seen more character development, specifically the relationship between Adia and Bret, and I was also expecting more of a faith aspect. I would’ve loved to have seen that vulnerability in the narrative and feel like it would’ve given the story an even greater depth and meaning.
For a debut, I think the author did a wonderful job. This is a relatively unknown story that needed to be told and I think it was told beautifully with love and passion.
