My Review

I had high hopes when I picked up Journey of Grace.  I love reading Christian fiction and admire how the author weaves faith into the storyline and I hate to say this but I was disappointed with this book.  The plot interested me, especially with me coming from a past abusive relationship myself, but I felt the depth of each character was lacking, which was incredibly disappointing.  There is so much more depth the author could've taken the reader to, like giving Grace and even Owen a deeper backstory.  With this being the first book in the series, and with the author noting at the beginning of the book that this series was written to go in order, you would think there would be more dimension.

The dynamic between Grace and Owen left much to be desired, and when Grace's ex-husband briefly comes into the picture, there is very little conflict, which is resolved quickly.  I felt the entire plot was rushed which was disheartening because I really wanted to love this story.

The times of prayer that were sprinkled throughout the book were utterly beautiful and I loved how Grace's friends and family stood by her during her difficult time.  I know when I was going through my time of separation if I wouldn't have had my friends and family to support me I don't know what I would've done.

Journey of Grace shows the importance of faith during hard times and the significance of a strong support system to surround you during difficult times.  This book is easy to read and I was able to finish it in a few hours.  The writing is decent but I was left wanting more.  The entire time I was reading I felt like there was something missing, though I could never quite put my finger on it.

I am still not sure if I will read the other books in the series.  I guess only time will tell.
