Johanna Amalia Nilsdotter Oman has left everything she knows behind. By crossing an ocean and a continent, she now faces the two-hundred-mile journey up the Columbia River into Washington Territory. Her father purchased land near Lyle with dreams of building a sawmill, and Johanna is determined that nothing—not distance, danger, or loneliness—will stop her from reaching their new home.

John is a man running from everything. Haunted by shame and regret, he has chosen the wilderness as his grave, determined to vanish into the mountains and die alone.

But before he can disappear, he accepts one final job: guiding a Swedish settler named Nils Oman into the rugged foothills above the Columbia River. The promised twenty dollars will buy him freedom—or so he believes.

But God has other plans. When Johanna’s path collides with John’s, both must face the truth they’ve been running from. In the shadow of towering evergreens and the roar of the Columbia, they will discover that even in the darkest wilderness, God’s love brings redemption, healing, and the courage to begin again.

New River, Virginia. 1904. Lizbeth Bennet longs to preserve her family’s farm, securing a future for her and her sisters, a difficult task in their Appalachian coal mining town. Money is scarce, and Lizbeth is determined to find a way without giving up treasured pieces of her family’s legacy. But when the mine is put up for sale, it’s clear change is approaching. A contingent of coal barons descends on the town to investigate whether the mine is worth their investment, among them a young man rumored to be a very rich, eligible bachelor.

William Drake arrives focused on business and keeping his distance from the townspeople, especially those living on land entangled with the mine, including a farmer by the name of Bennet. As William digs through legal issues, his struggle to weigh the potential financial gain against what is right for the community grows more complicated when he meets one of the Bennet daughters.

Despite an awkward first meeting, Lizbeth and William continue to cross paths, and soon Lizbeth questions her first impression of the man she believed to be proud and indifferent. But just as their friendship begins to evolve, a revelation shakes Lizbeth’s tenuous trust, and she learns all may not be as it seems. To determine what is true, and step toward a love she’s barely dared dream of, Lizbeth must confront her own prejudices . . . and decide whether the future she’s always imagined is the one her heart truly wants most after all.

Book Review of 'A Time of Proving' by Alena Mentink

Happy St. Patrick's Day Bookworms! ☘️

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  Our household is still fighting the crud so it was a low-key weekend full of rest and relaxation, which I am very thankful for.  My heart goes out to all of those that are dealing with the devastaion from the insane storms and fires that attacked the US this weekend and my prayers are with all of you that were affected.

I am so excited to be sharing my thoughts about yet another author that is new to me but one that I have quickly fallen in love with.  I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this Christian Historical Fiction and don't forget to wear green so you don't get pinched!

Book Review of 'Even If Nothing Else Is Certain' by Amy Willoughby-Burle

Happy Monday Bookworms!

Welcome to another week!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter.  My household was feeling a tad under the weather, so we had a very low-key day at home, and it was actually kind of nice.  We are gearing up for some severe weather in my neck of the woods this afternoon, and I think the storm front has been blowing up all the allergens.  Spring has most definitely sprung!

If you're going to be hit with these crazy storms that are headed our way, I pray that you stay safe, and I hope that you enjoy my thoughts on a great historical romance.
