There is something engaging about this novel that grabs you from the beginning. The mystery of a missing girl and her twin being back in town will almost always pique my curiosity.
I lost my emotional support dog three years ago this January, and I know reading this novel was not an accident. I’ve been afraid to let myself even consider the possibility of getting another dog because the pain of losing her was so severe that I’ve been scared to even consider putting myself in that position again. After reading Deadly Rodeo Threat and seeing just how much Shadow helped Logan throughout the story, I was reminded just how vital animals are in our lives. Sure, they don’t last forever, but the incredible work they do while they’re here is immeasurable.
While Logan and Isabelle are sweet characters that did have their share of problems, they felt stiff and a little too perfect. Where are the flaws? The love story is sweet, but I felt like this focused so heavily on the relationship and not so much on the suspense, which was disappointing as I was in more of a suspenseful mood.
While engaging and entertaining, there was nothing really special that made this novel stand out. Still, it has me thinking about the importance of pets, and for that, I am grateful as I am now prayerfully considering my next support animal.

About the Author
Sami A. Abrams grew up hating to read. It wasn't until her 30s that she found authors who captured her attention. Now, most evenings you can find her engrossed in a romantic suspense novel. In her opinion, a crime plus a little romance is the recipe for a great story. Sami lives in Northern California, but she will always be a Kansas girl at heart. She has a love of sports, family, and travel. However, a cabin at Lake Tahoe writing her next story is definitely at the top of her list.
