Whispers in the Snow

Title: Whispers in the Snow
Series: Heartwarming Christmas
Author: Heidi Eljarbo
Publisher: Independently Published
Release Date: ‎ January 27, 2026
Genre: Cozy Historical Mystery Romance

Of course, a young woman in Norway during the late nineteenth century can be a successful amateur sleuth, and goodness knows, Cornelia’s days are always more exciting when she can devote her time to resolving a local mystery.

Cornelia Gran is a dedicated daughter, friendly and kind; although, she has an exorbitant amount of curiosity. She devours Arthur Conan Doyle’s magazine articles and tries to follow the fictitious Sherlock Holmes’s investigative examples, but her fascination with solving puzzles always gets her into mischief.

Each morning, Cornelia reads the newspaper, looking for a conundrum to solve. Searching for clues—and then chronicling her discoveries—thrills her. She certainly finds those activities more entertaining than taking her grandmother’s advice and attending one Christmas ball after another in search of a husband.

But chaos and danger turn Cornelia’s quiet days upside down when her attempt to find information about the owner of a nearby abandoned cottage takes her into dangerous territory. As winter winds rattle the windows and swirl snowdrifts against the doors, she faces off with a ghost, gets in trouble with the police, and finds herself staring down danger without thinking of the consequences. In the middle of it all, she meets Simon and is captivated by his charm, good looks, and personality.

Meanwhile, a real killer is after her, and he won’t stop until he gets information she doesn’t have! Christmas, with all its cheery festivities, hygge, and family traditions, has never been more threatened. Cornelia must call on all her investigative skills, not only to stop the ruination of her family’s holiday, but also to make certain Simon and his aunt keep what belongs to them. And maybe, just maybe, the amateur sleuth will discover the meaning of true love.

Set in a fictitious town in Norway in 1891, this cozy historical mystery is perfect for those who enjoy curious and determined women sleuths, clean and wholesome romance, and the discovery of buried secrets in an abandoned house.

Spotlight on 'The Memory Stone' by Bryan Davis

Happy Wednesday Bookworms!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Life is busy, my head is spinning, but my heart is happy, so I can't complain. In anticipation of my upcoming move I have started going through items throughout my house, and the first place I started was one of my keepsake boxes. While going through old report cards and achievements, I found a journal that I had kept in junior high. With my mind on childhood memories, I started thinking about all of the wonderful stories I've read in my lifetime and wish I would've kept a reading log back then to see what I've read in my lifetime. Junior high was a fantasy era for me, and the novel I am featuring today is the perfect addition to this genre.

I hope you enjoy an excerpt from this Middle Grade Fantasy Adventure and don't forget to scroll to the bottom of this post and enter the amazing giveaway from JustRead Tours.

Book Review of 'An Appearance of Impropriety' by Jayna Breigh

Happy Friday Bookworms!

My quest to broaden my horizons and to branch out into different genres continues into 2026, as proof of the novel I am featuring today! One upon a time, I loved legal dramas as far as television was concerned, but I've never been a fan of legal dramas in the literary sense. But this gorgeous cover with its moodiness and enticing title won me over, and I gave it a shot. I am so glad I did.

Will their love turn into a scandal despite their efforts?

As the youngest female judge in Los Angeles, Mahalia Jackson has her career on a fast track to success. Her polished exterior makes sure of that. But when she volunteers for the Junior Jurors and ends up working side by side with attorney JD Cash, her plans begin to falter.

JD heads up the program—born out of his own troubled past—where local teens learn about the legal system. He leverages his position as an attorney to fulfill God's calling on his life: to support the orphans and widows of society who have lost beloved fathers and husbands to TransNation's eighteen-wheeled time bombs roaming America's freeways.

Mahalia's rule—never date a lawyer—is a straitjacket that tightens when she presides over the case where JD serves as a young widow's attorney. When Mahalia is placed in a vulnerable position, her resolve begins to waver.

Her increasing proximity to the empathetic lawyer sparks an onslaught from anonymous online adversaries attempting to destroy Mahalia's reputation and career by throwing around claims of an appearance of impropriety. The digital disgrace pushes Mahalia to ask one hard question: Is loving JD worth risking her career?

With a great story, well-developed characters, and a tale that explores the value of second chances and giving back, the latest from Breigh is a must-buy. —Library Journal, Starred Review

"An Appearance of Impropriety is filled with characters I cared about who were placed in challenging situations that compelled me to keep reading long into the night." Cara Putman, award-winning author of the Secrets to Keep series

Can love blossom between a woman haunted by her family's past and a man haunted by the trauma of war?

Cora Scott is determined to hold onto her family's Texas ranch and provide a stable home for her young half-brother, Charlie, despite the mounting challenges of post-Civil War frontier life. But when a scheming creditor threatens to seize their land, she must accept help from Ben McKenzie, a former Yankee soldier sent by her late brother. Though Ben's generosity and strength draw her, the man's private struggle she stumbles upon—too reminiscent of her father's alcoholism—makes her question whether she can trust her heart to him.

Ben McKenzie arrives in Texas intent on fulfilling his promise to his dying friend to protect Cora and Charlie. While using his inheritance to save their ranch, he battles not only the loss of their cattle but also his dependency on laudanum—a medicine that turned into a curse after his imprisonment at Andersonville. As his feelings for Cora deepen, he must choose between his promise to his father to take over their Philadelphia newspaper and his growing dream of a life with Cora in Texas.

When a Comanche warrior begins courting Cora and Ben's responsibilities in Philadelphia threaten to tear them apart, they must decide if their love is strong enough to overcome their fears and forge a future together on the Texas frontier.

Book Review of 'The Single Mom's Second Chance' by Tara Randel

Happy Monday Bookworms!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and stayed as safe and warm as possible. My weekend had some major highs while also having majors lows. I found out I lost a close friend suddenly due to an undiagnosed illness, and I am still trying to process it all. I was only a week older than her, so not only am I mourning someone truly special I also am faced with my own mortality. It was a lot, but time with family, friends, and prayer is getting me through. My prayer goes out to her family as well as everyone who has recently lost someone close to them.

Another thing helping me through is escaping into books. Sure, it's not the healthiest but it's entertaining! I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this Wholesome Romance and don't forget to scroll to the bottom of this post and enter the amazing giveaway from JustRead Tours.
