My Review 💜
I was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and I know that Prosper, Texas is in North Texas and nowhere near San Antonio, like it is portrayed in the book. I know this is a trivial fact, considering this is a work of fiction, but it really bothered me. There is also "cliche" Texas twang that no Texan I've ever known has used in their language and reading it was quite cringy to me. Holt is sweet enough but something about Macie was bothersome to me, and the entire time I'm reading I'm trying to put my finger on why, and never did quite figure it out.
I had such high hopes for this series, but I am sad to say that it was not an enjoyable start for me. The writing itself was top notch and I could see this series holding promise, so I am not giving up just yet, but it is by far my least favorite novel by this author to date.
My Rating: ★★1/2
